Taipei American School runs a Summer Academy with courses for Pre-K to Grade 12 and says the program has run for the last 20 years. In summer 2026, Lower and Middle School courses ran in two 2-week sessions (June 8 to 18 and June 22 to July 3, 8:00 to 12:00), and the Upper School offered four-week and two-week credit courses between June 8 and July 3.
The 2026 course list included Early Literacy Explorations and STEM Exploration for younger children; Building Competitive Bots, Model United Nations and Introduction to Economics in Middle School; and Upper School credit courses such as Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Mechanical Engineering, Film Production, Honors Geometry and a National Palace Museum Docent class. Several courses were marked full.
Unless a course says otherwise, courses are open to TAS students and to eligible non-TAS students from the wider community. The 2027 dates were not clear when we checked on October 15, 2026: the TAS page mentions dates in June and July, but the year in that sentence does not match.
Registration
In 2026, current TAS families registered through PowerSchool and other families used online application forms. Registration opened in late February (Lower and Middle School) and early March (Upper School), and closed in mid-May, about a week earlier for non-TAS students than for TAS students. Check the TAS page early in 2027 for the new calendar.

Good to know
Non-TAS applicants add documents, including a copy of the student's foreign (non-ROC) passport and a nationality document; Lower and Middle School forms also ask for a teacher or counsellor's email. See FAQ 4 on the TAS site.
Courses follow rising grade levels: choose courses for the grade your child will enter in the fall.
There is no school bus service during Summer Academy.
Upper School credit is lost after more than 2 missed classes in a four-week course, or more than 1 in a two-week course.
