The Chinese Language Center at National Taichung University of Education (國立臺中教育大學華語文中心) runs a children's Mandarin summer day camp on its campus in Taichung's West District. It is for foreign children aged 7 to 12, whether they live overseas or in Taiwan, and the classes are small and pitched at beginners.
In summer 2026 there were two two-week sessions, July 6 to 17 and July 20 to 31, Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 16:00. Monday to Thursday, mornings were Mandarin class and afternoons were Mandarin tutoring followed by clubs and a snack, with themed units on the zodiac, festivals and Journey to the West. The Friday of each session's second week was an outdoor field trip.
It suits expat and international families in central Taiwan who want a full school-hours day with lunch included, and overseas families visiting Taichung for a few weeks. The summer 2026 camp is over, and the 2027 dates were not published when we checked on October 15, 2026.
Registration
In summer 2026 families registered and paid in person at the center (Mon to Fri, 08:30 to 17:30), or, to pay by domestic or overseas bank transfer, mailed or emailed the form to clc@mail.ntcu.edu.tw. Families needed the form, two 2-inch photos and a passport copy. The 2027 dates were not published when we checked on October 15, 2026.
