Guide

Summer break 2027 starts on Thursday, July 1 for public schools in Taipei, New Taipei and Taichung. The 2027-28 school calendars are not out yet, so the end date is still to be confirmed. Summer is the longest school break and has the most camps on our list, and the timing is the hard part: in 2026, most of the camps we track put their summer details online between January and May, each on its own site and schedule, and some filled early: the NTNU Mandarin Summer Camp's two younger age groups in the first two sessions were full by late February.
This guide shows when summer 2026 details and sign-ups actually appeared, month by month, so you know when to look for 2027. Every date below comes from a camp page or program card on this site, each checked against the operator's own page. Past dates show the usual timing; 2027 dates can change.
A few operators have posted 2027 details. Camp Taiwan has published six overnight sessions from July 5 to August 21, 2027 and says to check back after Chinese New Year for its early-bird sale. The Mandarin Daily News Mandarin program has 2027 summer sessions starting June 3, July 6 and August 4. iD Tech set November 8, 2026 as the day summer 2027 registration opens to the public. The NTNU Mandarin Summer Camp expects to announce its 2027 dates in mid-December, and Sky Kids says its summer 2027 schedule will be ready by January. The summer camps page lists every 2027 date we have confirmed so far.
December and January
A handful post summer details in winter. Wenzao's Chinese Language Center put up its 2026 summer camp for children learning Chinese on December 10, 2025. The NTNU Mandarin Summer Camp opened online registration on January 6, 2026, and by late February its two younger age groups in the first two sessions were already full.
February and March
The Dongyanshan Nature Education Center opened summer 2026 sign-ups on February 23, and several Mandarin camps had early-bird deadlines on February 28. TAS Summer Academy opened registration in late February and early March. In March, the Aowanda Nature Education Center opened sign-ups on March 15, and the NCKU medical camp for senior high students took applications from March 18 to April 11.
April
Many university and nature camps opened in April 2026: Fu Jen's weekly day camps on April 8, the Taichung YMCA on April 14, LoveNature and the Basianshan Nature Education Center on April 15, the National University of Kaohsiung on April 17, China Medical University and the NCCU English camp on April 20, the Chinan Nature Education Center on April 22 and NCHU's kids' camps on April 28. China Youth Corps gave 12% off camps booked by April 30, and Taipei's bilingual summer camps took sign-ups from April 13 to 17.
May
Many public programs opened in May, some with short sign-up windows: Shei-Pa National Park on May 5, Guandu Nature Park on May 6, the National Science and Technology Museum on May 7, the Taipei Astronomical Museum from May 8 to 11 with a lottery, the Luodong Nature Education Center on May 13, and Taipower's free ball-sports camps only from May 14 to 27. Taipei's elementary school summer camps took sign-ups from May 12 to 18 by lottery, and Taoyuan's city camp platform opened on May 29.
June
A few programs opened in June, including the National Museum of Taiwan Literature camp on June 3, Yushan National Park's youth camp on June 8 and the University of Taipei's camps on June 9. Many windows also closed in June: Outward Bound Taiwan on June 21, and several university and nature camps between June 20 and 30. At NSYSU, the marine camp filled and sign-ups after 10:30 on June 15 went on a waitlist.
Some low-cost summer programs are run by city governments and museums, and places often go by lottery. In 2026, Taipei's elementary school camps were mainly for students at Taipei schools, with a few places kept for New Taipei and Keelung students, and Taoyuan's camps were mostly for Taoyuan students. The Taipei Astronomical Museum and the National Museum of Taiwan Literature also used lotteries when sessions were full. If you live in a city with these programs, mark the sign-up week; these windows are short.
Start with the summer camps page: its "Ran last summer" list shows what each operator ran in 2026, with prices, ages and how sign-up worked where the operator published them, and you can filter it by city and age. Save the ones you like to your shortlist, then check back from January as 2027 details appear; each card shows the day we last checked it. For the money side, see what camps cost, and for winter and spring dates, the registration calendar.
Families flying in from abroad should also read the overseas family's guide: some Mandarin camps for overseas children post early and fill early.
