The Tunghai University Chinese Language Center (東海大學華語教學中心) runs a Mandarin summer day camp for children aged 9 to 12: overseas children visiting Taiwan for the summer and foreign children keen to learn Chinese. In summer 2026 there were two 2-week sessions on weekdays, July 13 to 24 and August 3 to 14, under the theme "Speaking from Taichung, Inspiring Vibrance". Those sessions are over, and the 2027 dates were not published when we checked on Oct 15, 2026.
The camp aimed to build Mandarin listening, speaking, reading and writing through interactive classes and local culture. In 2026, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays were half days without lunch, and Tuesdays and Thursdays were full days with lunch. Each session took 7 to 15 children.
There is no lodging, so this suits families staying in or near Taichung during the camp.
Registration
In summer 2026 the fee was NT$35,000 per child, NT$30,000 for returning students and NT$33,250 for early bird sign-ups by Feb 28, 2026. Families applied by Google Form, then emailed signed camp rules, parent consent, a passport copy and a photo; the seat was held 3 days for payment. Payment was by international wire, domestic transfer or cash at the center. The 2027 details were not published when we checked on Oct 15, 2026.
